As all should know, late evening on April 19th the second Boston Marathon bomber was found in a boat, wounded and no longer a immediate threat. Over the past month there has been a lot of information come forth and just this morning I watched a video of the 2 brothers going to a boxing gym, the oldest having intense focus and the younger just trying to keep up while in the ring. It's still so erie to watch and learn information about their lives. The emotional trauma still lingers, I went to a May Day festival in Harvard square on Cinco de Mayo and the heavy amount of armed forces/medic support/ and security demonstrated that no other festival/concert/parade is ever going to be the same again. The large metal garbage cans that line the streets (similar to the ones where the bomb were dropped) were covered in black tarps and taped off with police caution tape so no items could be put in the containers. Overall it was a happy place to be with sun shining and music playing and I was happy I stumbled upon the festival.

Cant be mad at a blossoming tree!
Back it up a weekend though and let me talk about my quick weekend to San Antonio to visit Justin!! His other friend Joel was visiting also and it was Fiesta weekend there so there were parties and shows and parades... It was a weekend jam packed with things to do. I mostly enjoyed the time walking around in the Japanese tea garden, I highly recommend visiting it for that. We also strolled some of the river walk and then rented bikes and cruised through town on them as well. I had no idea what Texas would be like, but I know SA is somewhere I wouldn't mind living, it was so pretty and green.
Out to my first drag show ever, Corniation
they put this show on every year for fiesta
Good ol Justin
My favorite building at night, lit up and
brightly colored... amazing ha

I was AMAZED even at 7 am how cool
this art in the airport was... its a entire circular

in love!
I had a whole weekend to be at home after that which worked and kind of didn't, I went down with a group of friends from church to Cape Cod and had a fire on the beach, so fun and got me pumped for the summer to come!
Jenny is my fellow redheaded friend, we
rode together to the beach fire ;)
On Saturday I bummed around, in the afternoon Jacob and I made it over to Harvard square to have some famous shakes and burgers at Mr Bartley's, the burgers were super thick and juicy, but honestly I loved the shake more... surprise surprise ha I then finally took my first stroll through Harvard campus, just being there I am sure I grew a few brain cells :)
Peace in the Middle East... Honestly I think a
good burger and shake maybe could bring
peace there... just a thought
My favorite, Chocolate with chocolate
shavings, with chocolate syrup... oh and
brownie batter too ;)
Thumbs up for Facebook
Pondering the mysteries of life.......
Me and Jacob
The next week was the best part, I had been plotting a plan to fly to DC to surprise Amanda for her birthday for over a month but her curious little self made it almost impossible to surprise her. I had to do a lot of deceiving as did Shara and her mom and many others involved, but finally Saturday morning I went crawling into her room, fresh off a early flight from Boston, and woke her up with a quiet and calm "MEOW" hahahaha I don't know why I did that but Shara woke her up telling her she forgot to tell her something and then I popped up with the surprise ;) She FREAKED out!!!! It was amazing and one of those moments I still kick myself for not having on a recorder. The weekend flew by of course, but Amanda seemed to be happy about the turn out of it and reported it to be one of the best birthdays she can remember having. #success
Saturday we ventured out to the Embassy tours
in DC... Honestly we only made it to
one country, Latvia, however we had
a fun time walking around the area anyway ;)

Heading back after my long weekend in DC was okay since I only had a 4 day week of work however it ended up being on the MOST busiest and action packed weeks of work... ever!! I was on call for 3 nights in a row and each night was called out to do something (death or help with equipment) but always after 11pm so I was up til at least 2am then off to work at 730am again, needless to say I was exhausted! Jake treated me to a really fancy dinner on Friday evening which was greatly appreciated and extra thoughtful ;) Then a treat that got me through the week was that my girls from work and I were planning a girls night to go out and eat, laugh, and talk (our 3 favorite activities).
Me with my shirt on backwards... didn't realize until
we were sitting down to dinner, Me and Allison
and then me and Gina
The next week was just as busy for me, however you will have to read onward to the next blog to hear about all the fun and adventures I had while Mike and Jen came to Boston.....!!!
