Still here in Mexico

Wow a week and a half later... sheesh where does the time go?! I last posted right after the 4th and was just welcoming Shara and Maureen here...

now Shara is gone and Maureen leaves tomorrow, I hate how fast everything goes! I last left off with a side note about going on a scooter to Playa Bonita with Filip, and lets just say that it was a very LOVELY day ;)

Moto Ride out to Playa Bonita

JUMP... just for you Jen ;)

He is a very sweet guy, the language is a struggle for him but he tries really hard and understands about 1/2 of what i say ha ha His face is handsome, his manners are pristine, and he is well built so the language can be forgiven for now. Hanging with the girls felt right again, we were able to come together and joke/laugh with each other again, Amanda was reunited with Bailey as well ;) On Sunday I went with Filip and the Czech group to Isla Pasion for a BBQ, it was a fun time even though I could only understand about 3% of what was happening lol very kind people.

Boat out to Isla Pasion with the Czechs

Dinner night at the Palopa with the family and guests: Krystal, me and Shara

Amanda's dad took us all out on the big fishing boat, Falice to El Cielo which is "the sky" named by the looks because there water is RIDICULOUSLY clear and has star fish along the shallow sand banks, you can wade out to and pick up the star fish up! So AWESOME....  We caught a Barracuda when we were out fishing, the teeth are sooooo big!

We went out dancing with the locals and made some new friends, which is always a good time. There is a palapa bar right on the beach about 1/2 a mile from here and we discovered a really awesome band that is here from Mexico city for the month. They play most every night, we first made friends with the Bass player because he was concentrating and looking so serious one night so I "pulled the face" *to find out what this is watch Jenna Marbles on youtube* and freaked the poor guy out and made him laugh too ;) Mission Accomplished.

Amanda, Me, and Maureen outside of Love

Sneaky shot taken by Filip, I look like
a serious faced fisherwoman here ;)

Filip became a staple in my days over the past week which was really nice to have him around, he taught me how to play tennis, or at least how to hit correctly and took me out on proper dates, what more could a girl ask for? ha He left on Monday but we are staying in contact. He is going to work on his English and perhaps come out to the states in November/December ;)

Spanish class continues to go well, we were slacking for the week that Shara was here but this week we have been more focused and serious, it is tough stuff but as long as we keep making all of our friends use just spanish with us, we will get better..... hopefully lol We have made good friends with Rebecca, she came over yesterday and laid out with us, she is so lonely here on the island, we can't blame her and feel sad for her, it has got to be really tough! We are going to do girls camp with her next weekend which I think will be a whole new experience here in Cozumel ha

I booked my ticket tonight to go to Utah to visit my family, and also for the event of the year, one of my Best Friends Jennifer Jarrett is marrying her perfect match, Michael Teagle on 8/10/12 and I am soooo excited to go and see them and many other friends who will be there!

I have sent out a message to the travel nurse company and told them that I plan to start working with them at the first of September.... ahhhhhhh I am nervous and excited at the same time, let the adventures roll on....  We also found The Little Mermaid and plan to watch it in Spanish this week, so exciting lol Sorry this post is so boring and not very many exciting things have happened, as more things progress I will be better and post more often I swear!

I will post soon and keep you updated, til next time, Kj

Bienvenidos A Mexico

Mexico es loco!!!! Ha So everyone I have been here a whole week and have had such a nice time so far. This trip is a big 180 from the Dominican Republic but its already showing to be a big growing experience ;) Amanda and I spent the first day "acclimating to the island" and went to the other side of the island to Rasta beach which is one of our favorites because of the quietness of it all.

Desayuno

Reljandamo.... Relaxing

After our first day here we were ready to conquer the world so we got up the next day and worked out, showered and got ready for our first day of school... WELL Spanish class ;) There is a language and arts school here run by Señor Othen and we have decided to do classes 3 times a week and then see how we do on learning and practicing as much as we can, Cozumel is not the ideal place to learn because everyone here keeps speaking English to us and it would be a lot more productive if they would use SOLOMENTE ESPANOL!!! lol But hey its great because we have a beautiful place to stay ;) We also decided while we were on top to go and find the Humane Society which has a really great animal adoption program here where they take in strays and neuter them then find homes for them locally and also overseas. They have a FB page that lets people going to certain airports/places be aware of animals that have a home but need a way to get there. We then ended to night with a trip to Señor Frogs for some entertainment and blackout dancing!

Back to school, back to school

Kitty on the back!

In LOVE with Lacy

Out at Señor Frogs

At church on Sunday we talked with a girl we had briefly met before but this time actually were able to talk more. She and her husband have lived here for 5 years and she is from New Mexico originally and living here has been a new adventure for her. She is clearly lonely and needs some girl time we could tell. Her name is Rebecca so we offered to help her out some how and it turns out that she is the Mia Maids leader and so we are going to do YW activities on Saturday with her! We also made a new Canadian friend named Dave, he is from Toronto and a free spirit. He had booked his ticket here just 2 days prior to his arrival. So we went out in the square with him on Sunday for Canada day ha ha

Amanda riding to church

Sunday was Presidential elections day in which the prohibit selling any alcohol                                 from midnight to midnight ha ha

On Monday after class we finally took a dip in the water with the snorkel gear... everyone here makes fun because we haven't gone scuba diving here and thats what Cozumel is known for! The water is breathtaking... so are the fish... ha Then on Tuesday we were reunited with Shara!!!! The Trifecta reunited at once ;) we immediately laid out and then took a bike ride to town to get some food, this was Shara's initiation into our bicycle gang lol while in town we swung by Starbucks, and this is where I first saw Filip, a guy from the Czech Rep... We didn't say anything to each other, just stared for far too long, okay maybe I just stared for far too long ha ha ha but then us girls headed to Mega which is the super market here (a cross between Target and Walmart) and while parking our bikes who did we see again???... Yup Filip ;) So we went in the store and finally on the cereal aisle we saw Mr Czech again and this time I couldn't not say something to him so while he was trying to walk past us I bluntly said, "are you staying here on the island?" he shockingly said, "Yeah we are all here, me and my friend and his kids..." So I proceeded in Kj fashion to tell him he is welcome to join us anytime if he wants ;) ha So I got his information and thats that.... (side note he met up with us 4th of July night and I am just getting home now from having dinner with him too) Fourth of July was very different this year, but it was nice! Very relaxing, we had class and then came home and did a BBQ with the managers Brent and Debbie (they are retired Airforce) and then went swimming. The town put on a party for us Americans and then we went out to dance afterwards. Felip and I went and got ice cream and spent a few hours on the pier talking and getting to know each other ;) Today after a nice sleep in we took off on the Ferry to Playa Del Carmen and did some unnecessary shopping and walking around the town, so nice! Now it is time to do a lesson in my book and go to sleep, planning on yoga at 7 am so need to rest now... Stay tuned for more Kj adventures soon! (Tomorrow Felip and I are taking a scooter to the other side of the island to a beach, should be a blast!)
